Work Session to discuss Metcalf Creek Road aka FS Rd. 779

The Town of Avon will be holding a work session to discuss the history, status and future maintenance considerations of Metcalf Creek Road aka Forest Service Rd. 779 during it’s regularly scheduled Town Council meeting Tuesday, June 8, at 5:50p.m. The work session is intended to be informal and public comments are encouraged.

Planning Director, Matt Pielsticker, has provided an updated timeline containing links to documents in the Council Packet pages 35 through 40. Currently, staff is “proceeding with the direction and goal to simply maintain the status quo of summer access for motorized and non-motorized recreational access.”

It is the position of WTC that the Town of Avon and the Forest Service follow through and recommit to the provisions set forth in the June, 2012 Corrections to the White River National Forest Travel Management Plan and the July 21, 2014 Memorandum of Understanding that provides for "year-round access for all vehicles, bicycles, horse and foot traffic."

If you are in support of RESTORING WINTER ACCESS to the White River National Forest via this Trailhead, please plan to attend to voice your opinion or write to council@avon.org. It’s important your voice be heard.

Thank you for your support!
