WOW, what a year!

Happy holidays! I hope this finds you well.

Wow, what a year! In November, the Avon Town Council reviewed the Ordinance passed in May that allowed OHV’s on Town Streets in Wildridge. Not only did they deem the Ordinance a success but they also asked Police Chief Daly to consider raising the speed limit for OHV’s to 20 or 25MPH so that OHVs travel at the same speed as other vehicular traffic. This was a HUGE victory for our Community! You can read more about it in this Vail Daily article.

At that same Town Council meeting, the Town of Avon formally agreed to partner with Wildridge Trail Coalition to apply for the Colorado Parks and Wildlife OHV Program Grant to fund heavy maintenance on FS Rd. 779, Metcalf Creek Road. This road connects the Avon area to 60+ miles of multi-use routes in the Red and White Mountain area from Highway 131 to Red Sandstone Road. By completing this heavy maintenance, this will remain an open and sustainable route for all to enjoy for generations to come. The Vail Daily covered this as well. Check it out.

In the spirit of the season, I would like to give thanks. I am so grateful for your support and the support of the following:

Lee Rimel - Trails Advocate

I would also like to give a special thank you to my husband, Rick Smith, and our amazing WTC board, Dave Dantas, Tisch Plavec, Debbie Lathram (and Craig), Charley Viola and Mickie Eggebrecht. Thank you for your countless hours of support!

Finally, I would like to add that if you like what we’re doing, please consider making a donation to our organization. Rick and I have been covering most of the expenses up to this point so your donations go directly to trail and route maintenance.

Thank you again for your support!

Happy Holidays!
